First Year Orientation Guide (FrOG)I was chosen out of hundreds of applicants for this amazing opportunity. In this position, I guided and made incredibly strong connections with a group of 38 young women
(first-year students) and 8 other members of the orientation staff (training group). This role consisted of being flexible and available at all times, a great sense of organization, and time management skills in order to get a group that large to different events throughout the week. This was genuinely one of the most valuable experiences that I have ever been a part of. I learned so much about myself and grew through the entire experience.

Sigma Sigma Sigma SororityI have been an active member of Sigma Sigma Sigma for the past two and a half years. This has been a wonderful experience in which I have gained so many irreplaceable friends. On top of that, it has opened my eyes to many incredible philanthropies, including our national philanthropy, Robbie Page Memorial Fund for play therapy, Paul's Walk for ALS, and Leslie George Memorial Fund for Eating Disorder Awareness. This Sorority has added a much deeper meaning to my time here at JMU.

Rho GammaA Rho Gamma is essentially a guide for young women going through formal sorority recruitment, lasting one week. I was fortunate to gain this position through another competitive process. I maintained 25 young women's schedules and called them daily to inform them of these schedules which varied among everyone as the week went on. I built personal relationships with each individual, meeting with them one-on-one every day. Recruitment at JMU is a mutual selection process, and I was responsible for relaying all good and bad news. This position further solidified my desire to be in a leadership role in which I feel as if I am making a positive impact on others, because it is simply so rewarding.

Study AbroadThe Summer after my first year at JMU, I had the opportunity to study abroad for 8 weeks in Florence, Italy. Words can not explain how amazing this trip was. I had a passion to learn subjects that I wouldn't ordinarily be interested in beyond the surface. There is something very special about learning while living amongst your subject. In my case, Wine and Culture, Italian, and Art History were my topics of study. This program set fire to my desire to travel. I am currently applying for travel companies in Europe and open to looking into opportunities anywhere in the world after this wonderful experience.
